Garden Design was always going to feature in my future and in early 2023 I graduated as a Garden and Landscape Designer under the tutelage of Rosemary Alexander at the English Garden School in Chelsea.
I am influenced by the work of William Robinson, where design and planting harmonise with nature and its surroundings. Two other huge influences have been Christopher Lloyd and Vita Sackville-West, both creating two of the finest gardens in the country, Great Dixter and Sissinghurst.
My journey into Garden Design started as a child tending to gardens and allotments in Kent and East Sussex and being totally absorbed with plants and nature. I studied horticulture at Hadlow college in my late teens, but my career took a different path, working for British Airways and the John Lewis Partnership. The horticultural draw became too strong, and I returned to Kent to run Bedgebury Pinetum for the Forestry Commission in 2008. In 2011 I joined the National Trust where I led a Gardens Programme in 2016 and then went on to become the General Manager at Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent where I continue to work today alongside running a Garden Design studio.
